Billy Gilmour is stepping up his injury recovery well with a brilliant bit of play for the Chelsea U23s.
The talented Scottish teenager has been out of action since July after suffering a torn meniscus. Chelsea have been eager to get him back to full fitness, Gilmour linking up with the Scotland U21s to help that process earlier this month.

It didn’t quite go to plan as he was sent off inside 12 minutes of appearing from the bench against Croatia. But that was perhaps a blessing in disguise for Chelsea, Scotland U21s now experiencing a Covid-19 outbreak after a trip to Greece.
Last week, Gilmour featured in the Papa John’s Trophy for Chelsea U20s, and on Sunday he took another step with a start against Manchester City U23s.
He played a big part too, scoring a peach from 18-yards out as the Blues drew 2-2 with City. Gilmour stood out amongst his peers as he showed the ability that earned him 11 senior appearance last term.

It’s another step on the road to a return to that level. Fans in the meantime have been impressed by Gilmour’s return to action.
