Ross County have suffered a blow in their battle to reach the last four of the Betfred Cup and fight their way out of relegation trouble in the Premiership.
Midfielder Charlie Lakin, who is on loan from Birmingham City, will be out of action until 2021 with a thigh injury.
Injury more serious than first thought
The player picked up the injury during the recent shock League Cup victory over Celtic. Originally it was thought that the player would be out for around a fortnight, but the injury is more serious than that, and the 21-year-old will be out for six weeks.

The news is a disappointment for the Dingwall club, as Lakin has been a first-team regular in recent weeks. County co-manager Stuart Kettlewell had his say on the matter.
“We have had some negative news on Charlie Lakin who we suspect might be out for anywhere up to six weeks” he said.
“We thought that was potentially going to be a two-week injury, but it looks like it may stretch up towards six.”
Will miss key relegation battles
Lakin will not only miss the Betfred Cup quarter-final against Livingston, but also key games against the likes of Hamilton and St Mirren, who are also hovering around the relegation zone.

However, Kettlewell won’t make any excuses about the injuries his said face, and instead sent a rallying cry to his players ahead of a busy schedule.
“We won’t make excuses we will just crack on with it. Whether we have the cover or not that is what we have to play. We have seven games but let’s go and embrace it and see if we can get out of it, let’s progress in the cup and amass points in the league” he concluded.
