Bristol City are one of three Championship teams linked with an interest in Motherwell centre-back Declan Gallagher (Daily Record).

The defender has taken his game to new levels since a summer move to Fir Park. His debut Premiership season with Livingston was outstanding, but this term, he’s arguably been one of the league’s best players.

It’s unsurprising to see his name linked with big clubs in the Championship. Bristol City are one of the teams thought to be interested according to the report, whilst Swansea City and Wigan are also linked with moves for the Well star.

Reported £500k Gallagher figure seems low

It’s suggested that Motherwell would consider a bid of £500k for their star defender. For how vital he’s been for the club so far and how good his performances have been, that sum seems quite low for the Scotland international.

Gallagher will undoubtedly move on to big things after his Well spell but the Fir Park club will be looking to make a tidy profit on him after picking him up for nothing last summer.

Bristol City were recently linked with another Well star in James Scott (Daily Record). A move to Wigan meanwhile could see him link up in defence with Well cult hero Cedric Kipre. Swansea on the other hand are pushing for promotion to the Premier League, sitting a point outside the play-off spots.

Gallagher has made 25 Motherwell appearances this term, with his form earning him a Scotland chance under Steve Clarke.
