St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson has admitted that he is hopeful that he will be able to make a new signing ahead of the weekend’s Betfred Cup semi-final.
The Saints take on Hibernian on Saturday in what is the biggest game of the season so far for the Perth club. Davidson knows that any advantage his team can get for the game is crucial.
Not ruling out new addition
That could mean adding a new singing to the squad, and possibly playing them at Hampden. That is a possibility that the Saints boss has refused to rule out.

“We’ll see if we can get something done by the weekend, if not by the start of next week. Hopefully we’ll get someone in. I think it’s important for the remainder of the season” he said (The Courier).
He then discussed the possibility of giving a player a debut in such an important game. He admitted that it would depend on the player’s fitness amongst other things.
“It depends which one I get”
“It depends which one I get. There are two or three options. Hopefully we can get a couple in. If one is fit and ready to go, he’ll be put straight in” Davidson concluded.

Adding a new player to the squad could give St Johnstone an advantage. It is something that Hibernian might not have been expecting.
However, as Davidson says, only time will tell if a new player arrives, and is then thrown into arguably St Johnstone’s biggest game since the Scottish Cup final in 2014. It will be a big decision for the manager to take.
