Aberdeen have been linked with a shock move for Celtic captain Scott Brown – as assistant manager.
The veteran midfielder is coming to the end of his contract at Parkhead and one of his former Hibs teammates is a hot favourite for the Aberdeen manager’s job. Derek McInnes left his post as Pittodrie boss earlier this week after eight years.
Stephen Glass is the frontrunner for the vacant job. He is currently Atlanta United’s reserve team manager and took interim charge of the MLS club, who Aberdeen have a strategic partnership with through chairman Dave Cormack, last year before returning to reserve duties.
Glass featured with Brown in the Hibs midfield at the start of the Celtic captain’s career and now Glass wants him by his side, should he be offered the permanent role as Dons boss.
The Atlanta United coach is Aberdeen’s preferred choice for manager according to reports and it is also reported the chance to move into management at Premiership level would be too good for Brown to turn down. Others like Steven Pressley have declared an interest in the Aberdeen job while coaches such as Shaun Maloney have been linked.
Interim boss Paul Sheerin believes part of McInnes’ legacy will be the Cormack Training Facility, which the now former boss campaigned for: “Cormack Park is part of their legacy. Both strived to get a training ground and were keen for it to be a part of the club.
“They have done that and delivered it. They had a lot of help for it to happen but for it to happen on their watch is brilliant and something that was desperately needed at the club.”
