Benjamin Siegrist is attracting plenty of attention, and now the Dundee United star can add CSKA Moscow and Schalke to the list, on top of Celtic interest.
Reports emerged last week that Celtic were keen on the Dundee United keeper. Hoops boss Neil Lennon has said before the match against the Tangerines on Wednesday that the Swiss keeper has impressed him this term.
Although not looking to strengthen the Celtic goalkeeper department, at a reported fee of £1 million, one of the Premiership’s best keepers would be a bargain at that price. Now two more names are in the hat.
They come from abroad, Russian side CSKA Moscow one of the teams interested. Currently second in the top-flight in Russia, this would be a big step up for the Dundee United keeper.
Another is Schalke, who have been regular European representatives for Germany in recent seasons. But this term they are fighting to maintain their Bundesliga status, although the club’s size would prove tempting.
The stopper is back in Premiership action tomorrow when he will look to keep Celtic’s menacing attacking stars at bay at Parkhead. Siegrist faces a club who have noticed his displays this term.
Micky Mellon said after the 1-1 draw with Hibs in which Siegrist was a standout that he would need to turn his phone off during the transfer window. He may need to as interest grows in his keeper.
