Airdrie manager Ian Murray says that bids will soon come in for his in-demand winger, Thomas Robert, who has attracted attention from the likes of Celtic.
The 20-year-old French winger has scooped a club Player of the Month award and a League One POTM trophy so far this term for his displays in North Lanarkshire. It’s resulted in interest from Celtic, Dundee United, Rangers and several English sides.
Robert only arrived in Scotland during the summer, signing for Murray’s men from Ligue 1 outfit Montpellier. The winger rejected top-flight football in France to ply his trade at senior level elsewhere.
Already his talent is shining through, Celtic scouting him on separate occasions in games against East Fife and Montrose. His manager says it’s only a matter of time before bids come flying in.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if we have a fight to keep him,” said Murray, “Thomas has done really, really well. He showed his class again against Clyde with the corner kick, but it wasn’t just that, in the first half he was excellent, his touches on the ball, his movement, his timing in the releasing of the ball, the way he picked up space, was excellent.
“We’ve had loads of clubs looking at him, a few of them were pretty impressed. Were they impressed enough to make a bid, I’m not sure, but I think there are a couple who are not too far away from that.”
