It’s been hyped up for months now – but Scotland’s Billy Gilmour was finally able to make a return to the senior domestic scene with Chelsea last night.
Frank Lampard’s men were in fine form against Sevilla in Champions League action, Olivier Giroud scoring four goals in a 4-0 win.

For Scottish football fans, there was one thing everyone was desperate to see. Gilmour had been named on the senior bench for the first time since July.
He’s been battling back from a torn meniscus in the summer. Youth appearances for Chelsea and the Scotland U21s have occurred in the last month but now he’s back in the senior fold.
Gilmour made a quick cameo from the bench late in the game as Blues boss Lampard came good on his pre-match promise to give the Scottish youngster minutes on his comeback trail.

Now the next landmark will be a first start, although that won’t simply drop in his lap after so many months out. Fans were delighted to see Gilmour’s return.
