Clyde released a statement on the club’s website on Monday night following the recent postponement of the game against East Fife.

The League One side were due to play East Fife last weekend, but the game was cancelled due to a Covid-19 related outbreak in the squad, which coupled with players having to self-isolate, left the club with not enough players to fulfil the fixture.

“Following the postponement of Saturday’s match at East Fife, the club can confirm that it continues to be in contact with the four players who tested positive for Covid-19, following the game against Montrose ten days ago. We’re pleased to report that all are doing well, and they will continue to be monitored on a daily basis” the statement says.

The other main points of the statement, are that players are continuing to self-isolate, and that the club believes it has stopped the infection from spreading as they cancelled training sessions as soon as the outbreak was confirmed.

Further update promised ahead of next league game

Clyde have also promised an update on the situation ahead of their next game, against Forfar on Saturday.

The good news is that the players who tested positive for Covid-19 seem to be doing well. That is the most important thing.

The club has also done well if it has managed to stop a potential outbreak at the club from getting worse, with the protocols in place doing their job.
