There is no doubt that Sam Cosgrove has been one of Aberdeen’s stars of the season. He has scored 20 goals in 42 games, which is an excellent record for a striker.
Unfortunately, he seems to have a hit a barren run at just the wrong time of the season. He has scored only two goals in his last 10 league games, both goals coming against now relegated Dundee.
The goalscoring malaise seems to have affected Aberdeen overall since the league split in two. The Dons have scored only one goal in the three games against the top six.
However, Cosgrove will have to get back on the goal trail if the Dons are to pip Kilmarnock to third place in the league table.
Poor record against duo
The Dons have two games left this season, against Hearts and Hibs. Cosgrove doesn’t have the best record against the teams this season, scoring only two goals in seven matches in total against the Edinburgh sides.
With the Dons and Kilmarnock currently separated by goal difference in the league table, the time has come for Cosgrove to end his poor run.
If he is able to find the back of the next in the next two games, the Dons could find themselves third in the league.
Two more blanks however, will see the Dons end the season behind the Rugby Park side.
