Hearts manager Craig Levein has admitted that he is unsure if Arnaud Djoum will sign a new deal at Tynecastle.
The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season. Levein has disclosed that he is still trying to ascertain if an agreement will be made.
“I’m still trying”
“I’m still trying with Arnaud, so we need to find out what is going on there one way or the other” he said, as reported by the Evening News.
Levein was more forthcoming on the future of Steven Naismith though, as he expected a new deal to be agreed with the player.
“The will on both sides is pretty obvious, so I can’t see there being any issues” he admitted.
Loss of player would be a blow
The loss of Djoum would be a real blow for Hearts. He has made 39 appearances for the Tynecastle side this season. He will be a key man in the middle of the park against Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final.
Levein will be hopeful that Djoum agrees to a deal over the next week. They will not want his future unresolved before the Scottish Cup Final.
Perhaps if Djoum does depart, he will end his Hearts career as a winner in the Scottish Cup Final. However, all at Tynecastle will be hoping that the player agrees a new deal with Hearts.
