Former Hamilton Academical goalkeeper Remi Matthews is close to becoming an English Premier League player with Crystal Palace (SLP).
The Selhurst Park club recently appointed Patrick Vieira as their new manager and he is likely to make Matthews his second Crystal Palace signing. Aged 27, Matthews is without a club after leaving League One side Sunderland earlier this summer.
Matthews would come in at Crystal Palace as third-choice keeper behind Jack Butland and number one Vicente Guaita. Martin Canning brought Matthews to Hamilton on a season-long loan from Norwich City in the 2016/17 season.
He played consistently throughout the campaign as Accies retained their Scottish Premiership status via the play-offs, beating Dundee United 1-0 over two legs. Matthews returned south of the border after this, since taking in spells with Plymout Argyle, Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland.
James McArthur is another former Accies player at Crystal Palace while fellow Hamilton academy graduate James McCarthy was at the club last season.
