English Premier League club Crystal Palace are poised to make an approach to sign Dundee United’s teenage centre-back Kerr Smith (DR).

The summer transfer window shuts next week and 16-year-old Smith is in-demand. Crystal Palace are one of several English clubs who are watching Smith and it reported they ‘will’ make an official move for him before the window shuts.

Smith is viewed as one of the brightest talents in UK football and he made his senior breakthrough at ‘the Tangerines’ last season under then-head coach Micky Mellon.

The teenager has made seven appearances for Dundee United. Crystal Palace signed Scott Banks from the Scottish Premiership club in January 2020 and are set to move for another one of United’s top young talents.

Southampton are another team believed to be keen on making a move for Smith before the end of August. It would take a high six figure sum to get Dundee United into discussing Smith’s potential exit.
