David Gray has confirmed that strikers Kieron Bowie and Mykola Kukharevych have returned to full Hibs training.

The Hibs pair have been sidelined due to injuries but are close to making a return. Bowie suffered a hamstring injury in September during Scotland U21 duty and has went through a rigorous rehabilitation programme.

Meanwhile, Kukharevych got injured during the defeat to Celtic at the beginning of December and missed the busy festive period as a result.

Elsewhere, Gray provided updates on Elie Youan, captain Joe Newell and central defender Marvin Ekpiteta at his pre-Motherwell press conference.

Gray said: “None will be available for the Motherwell game, unfortunately. Kieron and Mykola are both back in full training but this game just comes too soon because they’ve not had that bank of training yet.

“Especially Kieron having been out for as long as he has, but they should both be available again as of next week, which is great.”

Gray continued: “Elie Youan has been slower to return than I thought. We’d expected him to be back by now, but he’s just had a little bit of a setback. It’s days rather than anything else – he’s just reacting a wee bit at the moment.

“Then you’re looking at Joe, who will be a couple of weeks, potentially. He’s had a bit of a setback with his groin after the Kilmarnock game when he came off so we’re going to have to intervene there.

“He’s been sort of nursing that a little bit, but this is the best way to do that now. We’ll lose him for a couple of weeks, but that should benefit him longer term.

“Marvin is probably the furthest away; he’s looking at the back end of January, start of February, but he’s progressing nicely.”
