Goalkeeping coach Dave Timmins is also expected to leave the Championship club. Hopkin guided Morton to a seventh place finish last term and they sit in the same spot after seven games.
Morton will play in-form Dunfermline at East End Park on Saturday afternoon. Their last win came on October 31 against Ayr United, not winning in five games since, scoring once.
