Hamilton forward David Moyo was able to pit his wits against the likes of Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez in a landmark match.

His Zimbabwe side played out a 2-2 draw with Algeria on Monday during an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Andy Delort put Algeria ahead before Manchester City man Mahrez showed slick skill to beat the defence and double his side’s lead.

Moyo’s side were able to pull back level through Knowledge Musona and Prince Dube. The Hamilton forward played 45 minutes on what was his first start for his national side.

A debut came last Thursday in the first match against Algeria, coming off the bench as Algeria won 3-1.

It’s a great experience for the Hamilton man as he takes his first steps on the international scene, the African Nations Championship to come in January.

The chance to compete against the likes of Manchester City star Mahrez and play alongside established English football men in Marvelous Nakamba and Tendayi Darikwa is brilliant for Brian Rice’s striker.
