Aberdeen have recently announced that the allocation of tickets awarded to away fans will be cut. The most tickets that will be given to away fans is 1,662.
Aberdeen came to the decision after incidents of ‘unacceptable conduct’ last season.
Additionally, more segregation will be introduced into the stadium to separate home and away supporters. This decision will have its biggest impact when Celtic and Rangers visit Pittodrie. The club have also invested in CCTV to deal with the issues of ‘unacceptable conduct’.
The cutting of away tickets could work to Aberdeen’s advantage on the pitch. However, only time will tell on that front.

Looking at social media, it seems that some Aberdeen fans are pleased with the decision. One fan described the allocation being cut as a ‘brilliant move’. However, some fans don’t seem overtly pleased with the idea.
Here are some of the best reactions to Aberdeen’s decision from social media:
Brilliant move. Sensible and professional approach.

Perhaps the fans against the decision are worried about the lack of atmosphere that might occur at the games now.
Lack of away fans could lead to better home results?

Aberdeen fans will most likely be pleased though that the away allocations have been cut. It has worked for teams in the past.
For example, all four Glasgow derbies were won by the home team this season after the allocation for away fans was cut.
Aberdeen fans will be delighted if they defeat Celtic and Rangers four times this season as a result of the cut in tickets.
