Funso Ojo is relishing the chance to win silverware with Aberdeen, after the Dons edged St Mirren in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Derek McInnes’ side ran out 2-0 winners against the Saints last week, and have since been drawn against Celtic – winners of the competition for the last three years – in the last four.

Neil Lennon’s Bhoys defeated St Johnstone 1-0 in their quarter-final, and stand between Aberdeen and a game against Hibs or Hearts in the final.

Ojo is ready to take on the Hoops, and reflected back on previous Premiership meetings between the two sides earlier this season.

WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.

He told the club’s official website: “I feel like a lot of people are happy to have reached the semi-finals, but it is only the semi-finals.

“We want to aim for the final and we can be properly happy if then we go onto win it. For me being in the semi-finals is not a victory yet.

“The away game we had at Celtic; it was a good performance from us. We played well against them as well when we played them at home recently. That was a good performance.

“So I believe we are getting closer to beating them, hopefully that can be the case in the semi-final.

“It would be great to win a trophy with Aberdeen. I would have to keep my apartment here in Aberdeen for the rest of my life!”

Aberdeen’s time?

Aberdeen have faced Celtic three times in the Premiership and have lost each time (0-4, 2-1, 1-2), so perhaps they are due a positive result in the Scottish Cup semi.

As Ojo points out, Aberdeen may have been narrowly beaten in the last two meetings, but the level of performance was encouraging in each of those defeats.

Perhaps it will be fourth time lucky in April – and, of course, Aberdeen are without a Scottish Cup title to their name since 1990, which may provide the added motivation to go all the way.
