Gordon Strachan will continue in his role as Dundee technical director, despite taking up a ‘consultancy role’ at fellow Scottish Premiership club Celtic.

The former Celtic manager has returned to Parkhead on a short-term basis. But he will also remain at Dens Park in his position as technical director, which he has held since 2019. Dundee manager James McPake has often spoken of Strachan’s influence in helping him guide the club back to the Premiership from the Championship last season.

Reports initially suggested Strachan would quit his role at Dundee before contrasting statements suggested he would operate in both. Dundee have moved to clear up the situation. A statement reads: “Dundee Football Club would like to clarify that Gordon Strachan will be continuing his role as technical director.

“It has been announced that Gordon has taken a short term consultancy role with Celtic Football Club but this will not affect his role with Dundee FC.

“We have been in constant communication with Gordon and Celtic throughout this process. Since taking the role in 2019, Gordon has been a fantastic asset throughout the club. His main role has been working closely with the academy coaches and helping to develop the future talents of the club, work which we are excited to see continue.”
