Dundee have confirmed the signing of Partick Thistle striker Zak Rudden on a pre-contract – and the Dens Park side hope they can convince the Jags to sell before the end of the month.

The former Scotland under-21 international will move to the City of Discovery at the end of the season after impressing for the Jags over the last two years.

Rudden came through the Academy at Rangers and had stints on loan with Falkirk and Plymouth Argyle before moving to Firhill in 2020.

The striker has signed a three-year deal with Dundee that will keep him at Dens Park until the summer of 2025.

Shortly after Rudden’s move to Dundee was confirmed, Partick responded with a brief statement saying the striker is an important part of Ian McCall’s squad: Partick Thistle Football Club acknowledges Dundee Football Club’s announcement of Zak Rudden’s pre-contract signing.

“The club reiterates that Zak is an important member of our first-team squad and will remain so until the end of the season unless a satisfactory offer is made during the January transfer window.

“No further comment will be made at this time.”

Thistle are in action this afternoon when they face Airdrie in the Scottish Cup and it will be interesting to see whether Rudden is involved or not.

With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, Dundee won’t have much time to put together a deal that will please the Championship side and entice them into selling the striker.
