Dundee defender Ryan Sweeney says settling in at Dens Park has been ‘easy’ after the former Stoke City defender transferred to Scotland for the first-time.

Sweeney joined James McPake’s side last month from Mansfield Town ahead of the 2021/22 cinch Premiership season. The 24-year-old left Stoke City for Mansfield in 2019, where he’d been for three years, but the centre-back is now committed to bringing success to Dundee.

He said: “It has been really good. The lads have made me very welcome and you can see the confidence in the group after being promoted last season. You can sense it once you come in here, there is a bounce on the back of winning the play-offs and being promoted.

“Being a new lad I’ve probably sensed it a little bit more, the lads have that natural bounce about them in training and we’ve seen that in games. It’s been an easy transition for me, it’s been brilliant.”
