Dundee manager James McPake has said that the club missed out on players like former Celtic star Nadir Ciftci due to budget constraints.
The Dens Park club will play Scottish Premiership football next season after a play-off victory over Kilmarnock. It was a road full of twists and turns in the 2020/21 Championship season and during it, they were linked with a sensational move for former Celtic star and Dundee United hero Ciftci.
Players like that couldn’t come to Dens Park, and while players like Charlie Adam had some poke the financial stick at Dundee, situations like the former Celtic number seven prove the Tayside club weren’t working with superior funds (DR): “Everybody went on about us having a massive budget but we didn’t.
“I think it is because people see us signing players like Graham Dorrans and Charlie Adam. You are also linked with players like Nadir Ciftci. People might ask why we didn’t sign him, well the money was too much. So have we lost out on players? Absolutely.”
