Dundee United are bracing for more interest in number one goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist as Ipswich Town join Celtic in the race to sign their Swiss goalkeeper (Sun).

Siegrist is currently recovering from a broken wrist injury but has been a standout for Dundee United during their return to the Scottish Premiership. Celtic were linked with a £1 million move for the 29-year-old who has made over 100 appearances for the Tannadice club.

There were teams in Europe interested too alongside Celtic but now Ipswich Town have joined the race. The Tractor Boys will play League One football next term but will bid for promotion back to the English Championship. They want Siegrist to help them in the quest.

He could be bought for a fee of £400,000, which would represent a bargain for anyone who manages Siegrist at that price, but he may cost more. Dundee United have two Premiership fixtures remaining before their season ends, Micky Mellon’s club losing 2-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-finals to Hibs on Saturday.
