Dundee United are said to be leading the race to sign QPR goalkeeper Liam Kelly (DR).

The QPR keeper doesn’t want to stay as back-up to Loftus Road number one Seny Dieng this season. It comes after an impressive second half of last season on loan at Motherwell, where he was a key player in keeping the Fir Park club in the Scottish Premiership.

Motherwell remain interested in Kelly but Dundee United are leading the way for the QPR goalkeeper. United number one Benjamin Siegrist has been subject to interest for months and could still leave the club this summer. Meanwhile, Chris Docherty has been appointed Head of Tactical Performance at Dundee United.

He replaces new head coach Thomas Courts, having previously worked as an analyst and scout with Croatian giants Hajduk Split. Docherty said: “I’m delighted to be joining Dundee United at a real landmark time for the club.

“I’ve known for a couple of years about a lot of the positive changes Andy Goldie has made to improve the youth academy here. I’ve had a number of long and detailed conversations with the new manager (Tam Courts) which were fundamental to me joining the club.”
