Dundee United have opened contract talks with Louis Appere, Lewis Neilson, Chris Mochrie and Archie Meekison as Thomas Courts looks to tie the promising quartet down to long-term deals at Tannadice.
All four are out of contract at the end of the season and Courts has made moves to keep them in the City of Discovery after handing each of them some first-team football so far this term.
Appere has been part of the first-team picture at Tannadice for a while but the other three have only really been on the fringes of the side so far.
Mochrie became the Terrors’ youngest ever player when he made his debut two years ago against Greenock Morton, aged 16 years and 27 days and has made eight appearances so far this season, while Neilson appeared in the League Cup earlier in the campaign and has also spent time out on loan at Falkirk.
Meekison has been sidelined since damaging ankle ligaments during United’s League Cup win over Arbroath at the start of the season but is due back any time soon after months out.
Dundee United travel to Edinburgh this weekend to face Hearts at Tynecastle and Courts’ side could go as high as second place in the table if results go their way this weekend.
