Dundee veteran Charlie Adam has been impressed with how his teammate at Dens Park Jonathan Afolabi has fared at the club since joining on loan from Celtic.
Afolabi has had injury issues to deal with this season, but he looks to be fit and raring to go once more. The 21-year-old has scored three times for Dundee, with two goals coming in his last two games.
Adam admits that it hasn’t been easy for the player dealing with injuries, but he thinks that Afolabi has performed well so far. He feels that if Afolbai can stay fit, it will be a big boost for the player and the club.
“It’s been tough”
“He’s done well. It’s been tough for him because he’s been in and out with injuries and things like that” he said.
“His goal the other night (against Bonnyrigg Rose) hopefully can kick him on, hopefully score a few goals and stay fit for a few weeks and hopefully we’ll get the benefit of that” Adam concluded.
Dundee boss James McPake has also been impressed with how Afolabi has fared so far in his time at Dens Park.
“He wants to learn”
“He’s a young kid, learning his trade. He’s still got loads and loads to learn, but he wants to learn, he’s good to work with. So, I’m pleased with him” McPake said.
Afolabi has not started a game for Dundee since a 3-3 draw with Alloa in October which saw him pick up the injury which kept him out of action for a while.
However, after scoring two goals in his last two games he must be in the running to start Dundee’s next game. That is against Ayr this afternoon. That will be up to McPake to decide though.
