Kevin Nisbet knows he could have worked harder at Partick Thistle, but he’s happy to have sent a message to ‘the doubters’ in Dunfermline colours.
Prior to the Pars’ match with Thistle, Nisbet had scored six Championship goals in 13 matches, a decent record. He escalated that with four against his former employers in a 5-1 win.
Two penalties and two decent finishes capped off a great day for him and Stevie Crawford’s side. Victory over Ian McCall’s men puts Dunfermline just two points off a play-off spot.
Nisbet admits that it was nice to score against his former club and insists the best is yet to come.
“It feels good,” he said. “I think it’s a great win. Last year I struggled to score three in a game and obviously the penalties helped, but it’s a great victory for the boys.
“I scored one at Firhill last time and to score four this time is great. It’s one for the doubters.
“You could say that I wasn’t given a fair crack of the whip there but that was down to me as well. My attitude wasn’t great when I was there. I think I’ve changed now; I’ve matured and it’s good to score four against my old club.
“I didn’t work hard enough, both on and off the field. But I’ve changed that now, I’ve matured, and I think I’ve become a better player. Back then, I was on a two-year deal, I’d just signed an extension, and I just let it pass me by.
“Joining Raith Rovers last season was the last-chance saloon and I’ve kicked on from there. I’m juts looking to score as many as I can and help the team.”
