Dundee United and Livingston have lost the appeals to the SFA they submitted regarding the recent red cards picked up by Peter Pawlett and Jack Fitzwater.

Both players were shown straight red cards in the same game last week, United’s 3-0 win over Livingston and have had their appeals turned down.

Miss out on trip to Ibrox

That means that the duo will not be in action this weekend. Pawlett will miss Dundee United’s trip to Ibrox to take on Rangers. Fitzwater will sit out Livingston’s trip to St Mirren on Saturday. It will be a blow for both sides that two of their most important players will miss out on vital games.

However, one plus point maybe for Fitzwater is that there is now no chance of him picking up an injury and missing out on next weekend’s Betfred Cup Final. However, it is unlikely that he will think like that.

Both players will be watching on

You can’t really blame the clubs for making the appeal. They would have wanted to have the players available for the games this weekend if possible. However, it is not to be, and both Fitzwater and Pawlett will be watching on this weekend.

The duo will presumably return to first-team action in the next game. For Pawlett, that will be when Dundee United take on Kilmarnock. Whilst Fitzwater has the Betfred Cup Final against St Johnstone to look forward to.

Perhaps the enforced week off will inspire both players to turn in match-winning displays when they return. Only time will tell on that front.
