We continue our look at the most notable players of season 2018/19 with a look at Hearts’ Aaron Hickey.
It is a bit unusual to have a season review for a player who has only started two games for his club. But that should tell you all that you need to know about Hearts left-back Aaron Hickey.
He featured in two games for the Tynecastle club, both against Celtic, and was a standout performer on both occasions.

Wasn’t overawed by occasion
His debut came in the last league game of the season, as a shadow Hearts side took on Celtic at Celtic Park. Despite being only a teenager, he wasn’t overawed by the occasion and turned in a fine performance.
Craig Levein must have been highly impressed with Hickey’s performance. He kept him in the side for the next game, the Scottish Cup Final, also against Celtic.

Once again the player didn’t seem to let the occasion affect him. Indeed, on the day he was one of Hearts’ better players as they battled to an unfortunate 2-1 defeat.
Won’t want to rush player’s development

Obviously it is very early in the player’s career. Hearts won’t want to rush Hickey’s development. But so far he looks to be a player with a very bright future.
It will be interesting to see if he keeps his place in the Hearts team for the Betfred Cup group stages next month. Going by his performances so far, he should.
