Our end of season review featuring the most intriguing players of the 2018/19 season continues with a look at Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove.

The 2018/19 season was undeniably the best of Sam Cosgrove’s career. His 21 goals turned him into one of the most lethal strikers in Scotland.

His game has improved massively since the season before, where he managed only one goal in 18 games.

Cosgrove’s success shows that fans and clubs should not give up on players even if they have a bad season. Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes didn’t give up on Cosgrove, and last season he reaped the rewards.

Forthcoming season could be tougher

Next season Cosgrove could find the going tougher. He will be a marked man for defenders, who will want to stop him finding the net on a regular basis.

He will also be hoping that the Dons are able to find more attacking players to contribute to the squad, so that he isn’t left to do most of the work on his own.

Most importantly though, he will want to prove that he is not a one season wonder. Cosgrove will be out to prove any doubters wrong – if any still exist, that is.

Cosgrove is now one of the best strikes in Scotland. It is up to both him and Aberdeen to prove that he is not a flash in the pan.
