Former Scotland and Hearts defender Danny Wilson was on the scoresheet as his Colorado Rapids secured a 1-1 draw with Ryan Gauld and the Vancouver Whitecaps early this morning.
Gauld has attracted plenty of praise following his stunning start on the other side of the Atlantic but it was his countryman who was the hero after his header fired the Rapids in front just before the half-hour mark.

Wilson was badly at fault for the equaliser though, giving the ball away cheaply to Déiber Caicedo before he slipped in Brian White to lash the ball in off the underside of the bar just before the break.
Both Wilson and Gauld would play the full 90 minutes for their respective sides as they eye a place in the post-season MLS Cup playoffs later this year.
Colorado and Wilson have one of the tightest defences in MLS, conceding 24 goals in 24 games this season and only Seattle Sounders and Nashville FC having conceded fewer.
Gauld’s appearance was his eighth in the MLS since his summer move, with the talented midfielder scoring four times and contributing a couple of assists already in his time with the ‘Caps.
With both impressing this season in MLS, Jonny Russell having a decent season for Sporting KC and Lewis Morgan starring regularly for David Beckham’s Miami FC, Scotland boss Steve Clarke might well turn his attention across the Atlantic.
What a finish 🎯

Scotland’s next World Cup qualifiers take place next month when they face Israel and the Faroe Islands and it will be interesting to see whether Clarke takes a look at any of the players strutting their stuff in MLS.
