Oli McBurnie went from zero to hero for Las Palmas as he finally broke his duck for the club with a brace in the Copa del Rey.
McBurnie signed for the La Liga side in the summer with Scotland international defender Scott McKenna also in the ranks.
But the 28-year-old had went 14 games without a goal for his new club and saw him minutes slashed for his lack of productivity.
He played just 28 minutes of La Liga football for Las Palmas across November but was given the chance to prove his worth in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night.

He was handed a start against CE Europa and repaid his manager’s trust by scoring a double to earn Las Palmas a 2-1 victory.
After a goalless first-half, McBurnie broke the deadlock early in the second period with a diving header – but CE Europa hit back very quickly to equalise.
McBurnie stepped up to the plate though and scored a brilliant second goal after dribbling past two defenders and slotting into the net.
Las Palmas hail McBurnie impact
In Las Palmas’ official match report, Las Palmas hailed McBurnie as the ‘star of the night’ and his spiritedness was massive as his team progressed to the third round.
Las Palmas wrote: “Oli McBurnie was the star of the night at Nou Sardenya. His goals, determination, and fighting spirit were key to the victory.
“The 1-2 win bore his signature, in a match where CE Europa’s goalkeeper Juan Flere also shone by denying numerous chances from the visiting team.”
