Falkirk say ‘no candidate has been offered the position’ of head coach at the League One club amid links to Neil McCann and Celtic legend Peter Grant.
McCann has joined a football consultancy after a successful period as interim manager at Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of last season, keeping them in the Scottish Championship and pushing for the play-offs. He was said to have rejected the Falkirk role. Former Celtic coach Grant meanwhile has been linked after leaving Alloa Athletic.

The Wasps were relegated to League One under his management but Grant won plaudits for his style of play with a part-time side in a full-time league. He has also had coaching experience in the English Premier League and Scotland National Team, while also having previously worked as a first-team coach at Celtic.
Falkirk are searching for a new head coach after failing to get out of League One in the 2020/21 season, a third term in the division awaiting them. An update reads: “The deadline for submitting applications for the Head Coach position has now passed. We would like to update our supporters on the next stage of the recruitment process.
“Over 100 applications for the role were received from across the globe and we are grateful to everyone who applied for their interest in our Club. All of the candidates have been assessed against a number of criteria (including football/coaching experience and personal characteristics) that the Club identified were important for the role.
“We have already carried out some exploratory conversations and due diligence checks on candidates to help further inform our decision making. As a result, we now have a shortlist of candidates that we intend to speak with further and put through a formal interview process in the next 7-10 days. The Club would like to confirm that no candidate has been offered the position, contrary to recent media speculation.”
