Russian Premier League club FC Krasnodar have joined Celtic in the race for Hibs’ Kevin Nisbet (DM).

Shock interest from Russia has emerged in Nisbet after his first full season with Hibs at cinch Premiership level. He scored 18 goals with eight assists following a move from Championship club Dunfermline, peaking Celtic interest. Nisbet almost completed a switch to Birmingham City in February, but it fell through, despite a transfer request.

The Parkhead club are said to be keen on Nisbet, who Hibs value at around £4 million. But an alternative switch could beckon for him abroad, with Krasnodar keeping tabs on the situation. They are looking for a new striker after a 10th placed finish in the Russian Premier League, Sweden international Marcus Berg leaving the club.

Hibs sporting director Graeme Mathie told NTOF last week that the club were braced for interest in their key stars after a third place league finish last season. Josh Doig is another attracting plenty of interest, Celtic also said to be keeping an eye on his progress.
