Marley Watkins will leave Cardiff City at the end of this month as the former Aberdeen forward prepares to hunt for a new club again (WO).

Watkins spent the first half of last season on-loan at Aberdeen from Bristol City. The Welsh attacker impressed at the Scottish Premiership club but injury curtailed his loan. He joined Cardiff City on a deal until the end of August earlier this month.

Scoring twice in the Carabao Cup against Sutton United did Watkins’ chances of staying at the English Championship club no harm. But his future does not sit with Cardiff City after leaving Bristol City.

Mick McCarthy – manager of Cardiff City – has considered Watkins’ future for a week but the outcome has been to allow him to move on.

Aberdeen’s former forward will look for a new club either before or after the end of the transfer window. Watkins also had a spell at Inverness Caledonian Thistle earlier in his career.
