Aaron Hickey has an offer to return to the SPFL as Celtic offer £3.4 million for the former Hearts and current Bologna full-back (il Resto del Carlino).
Reports in Italy have suggested that Celtic have made a ‘bid’ of around €4 million for Hickey, equating to £3.4 million. The teenage full-back joined Italian side Bologna last summer after a breakthrough at Hearts, aged just 16.

Celtic – who Hickey played for at youth level – were interested in Hearts’ asset last summer but instead he opted for Serie A. Hickey initially made a bright start at senior level in Italy’s top-flight but a mixture of injury, Covid-19 and suspension curtailed his progress heading into 2021.
The 19-year-old has played 12 games in total for Bologna and is highly-thought of by the Italian club. Celtic are said to have formally tested their resolve and a wait to see whether the bid has been accepted now commences. It is unknown whether Hearts have a sell-on clause attached to the deal.
