He signs the contract a year to the date he moved from Easter Road to Villa Park. Not even the man himself could have predicted the success he has gone on to have.
McGinn is more than deserving of his new deal.
Aston Villa man McGinn has come on leaps and bounds since leaving Leith
The Scotsman was a key figure for Dean Smith last year. He helped them secure Premier League promotion via the play-offs last season, contributing seven goals and nine assists to the cause.

For a debut season in a new league, it wasn’t half bad. He has developed rapidly since leaving Leith.
It was clear when McGinn was at Easter Road that he was destined for big things. His energetic style of play drove the team on, whilst he also contributed effectively to attack and defence.
Those attributes have improved tenfold at Villa. Perhaps the biggest compliment he has received is a report from earlier this summer. The Sun linked him with a staggering £50 million move to Manchester United.

Whilst this hasn’t happened, it just shows how highly McGinn is rated. He has earned his new deal and will no doubt thrive in the Premier League, much to the delight of the Hibs support.
