Former Kilmarnock goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann is close to securing a contract extension with Premier League side Watford (Sun).

The Austria international – who has featured in all three of his nation’s group matches at Euro 2020 – shone for Watford in the second half of last season. He took over the number one spot from Ben Foster as the Vicarage Road side secured promotion back to the Premier League.

Bachmann has had to be patient at Watford. After returning from an impressive loan spell at Kilmarnock in the 2018/19 season, the Austrian played third choice in the following campaign, almost rejoining Kilmarnock on loan last summer.

But he stayed down south as Foster’s deputy and that decision has paid dividends. Contracted until 2024, Bachmann is set to have his Watford contract extended for the foreseeable future ahead of Premier League football. Bachmann made 28 appearances for Kilmarnock and is highly-thought of at Rugby Park.
