Former Motherwell captain Peter Hartley has completed a move to Indian Super League side Jamshedpur FC.

The 32-year-old has signed with fellow former Well man Owen Coyle’s side for the 2020/21 season. Hartley left Fir Park at the end of last season following a successful three year stint in North Lanarkshire.

After taking over as captain, the centre-back made 65 appearances overall in claret and amber, scoring eight goals with five assists from defence. He helped guide the Steelmen to a third-place finish and spot in the Europa League last term.

Hartley parted ways with Motherwell in the summer and has now penned a deal with Jamshedpur.

He is one of a host of former Fir Park players to move to the Indian Super League in recent years, Carl McHugh, Stephen Pearson, Kallum Higginbotham and new manager Coyle some of the ex-Steelmen to have had Indian spells.

Stephen Robinson’s side return to action this week when they host St Johnstone, looking for their first Premiership win of the campaign after failing to find one in their opening six matches.
