Former St Mirren and Hearts striker Gavin Reilly has left Carlisle United by mutual consent, and is set to return to Scotland. The League Two side say that the 27-year-old is set to move to and as yet unnamed club in Scotland.
“I’d personally like to wish Gav and his family the very best and thank him for his contribution whilst he’s been with this football club. He’s a fantastic lad and a consummate professional” Carlisle manager Chris Beech said.
Praised by manager
“An opportunity presented itself to allow him to go into an environment where he’s consistently done well and scored goals, and by doing the same again he will set himself into a good position for future seasons” he went on.

Beech’s comments were echoed by Carlisle’s director of football David Holdsworth.
“Everyone at the club wishes Gav the very best as he moves on. He’s an excellent person, and we wish him well as he goes back north of the border” he said.
Successful spell at Queen of the South
In his time at Carlisle, Reilly scored one goal. His most successful spell at a club was probably at Queen of the South. However, he also did well at St Mirren, and also had spells at Hearts and Bristol Rovers.

It will be interesting to see which club the player is set to join in Scotland. He could do a job for a team that is wanting goals to stay in the Premiership. He could also be an option for a team which is aiming for promotion from the Championship. Only time will tell on that front.
