Fraser Hornby is looking forward to showing what he can do at Aberdeen after the Everton academy graduate returned to the UK.

The Scotland U21s record goalscorer was highly-rated by Everton before leaving in the summer for Ligue 1 Stade De Reims. But, with minutes limited, he’s returned to the UK with Aberdeen.

And he says it was the only place for him: “It is great to be here. It was something that I really wanted to do and when the opportunity came about, I had it in my head that Aberdeen was the place that I could come and show what I was about.

“We had been talking for most of the month about what the best thing for me to do is. I have not been playing as much as I would have liked to have done this season due to a number of circumstances. We had the conversation towards the end of the window and felt going out on loan was the right thing for me to do.

“Coming to Aberdeen was something that I really wanted to do. I want to come and play games and to help the team. I spoke to the manager a few days ago and we had a quick conversation. He expressed that I could bring a lot to the team and I didn’t need much persuasion.

“There were other offers in the UK and abroad, but this is the place that I wanted to come to.”
