“I keep saying the same things; played really well, worked really hard, did we take our chances? No. And then you get sucker-punched by a goal.”
Livingston manager Gary Holt says he will think about quitting the West Lothian club after a defeat to St Mirren at home.
Holt has performed minor miracles at the Tony Macaroni Arena but it hasn’t gone his way this term, sitting 10th after nine defeats from 15 league matches. Their latest was a 1-0 loss to the Buddies.
Jake Doyle-Hayes’ strike in the second half secured a first win since August for Jim Goodwin’s side but more gloom for Holt. He’s questioning whether he’s took this squad of Livi players as far as he can.
“I sound like a broken record, it’s happening too often,” said Holt. “We’re 15 games in and this story has repeated itself so I’ll have to have a look at myself and see what I am doing right, and what I am doing right if the players are buying into it.
“If they’re not then I’ll have a look at myself about what I’m going to do. At the end of the day, we’re 15 games in and we’ve not got enough points in the bag so I’ll have a decision to make whether I am affecting the players.

“Have they got tired of me? It happens, at the end of the day, you do move on. If things aren’t going the right way you look at yourself first and foremost, I’ll analyse the players, I’ll analyse what I’ve done.
“I’ll ask myself did I do my best, did I pick the right team, did I get the tactics right? And if it’s the same record over and over, something has to change. It hurts when you lose games. Something has to change, it’s either what I do and how we do it. We haven’t won for a while in the league and we’re losing goals and losing games.
“It’s always raw when you lose a game but it is something you do look at. I can’t fault the players for work ethic but we’re in an adverse situation at the moment, and they go into their shells a wee bit.
