Brian Rice is demanding more respect for his Hamilton Accies side after a spirited display against Celtic was followed up by a 0-0 draw away to St Johnstone.
While the Saints had plenty of shots, keeper Kyle Gourlay was rarely tested, as Accies took a point from a tough venue. It followed on from a game against Celtic, that despite losing 3-0, Rice’s team showed plenty of fight in.
Keeping St Johnstone near them and with a chance to move out of the relegation places on Saturday against Motherwell, Rice wants more respect: “We defended well as a team I think we had the best chance of the game in the first minute.
“But I know what I’ll read. St Johnstone this and that because we’re Hamilton. But it just inspires my team, it’s not a true reflection of the games. We never get it {respect}, that’s my personal point of view and it frustrates me at times because I know how much my lads give.
“I think we deserved it today you know it was a hard working, honest performance and we deserved the point. I was delighted {as well} with the response during the game {in midweek against Celtic}.
“We’re playing Glasgow Celtic and we got beat 3-0. When we get beat 3-0 it’s a hammering and a doing, when other teams get beat 3-0 it’s Celtic won 3-0. Give us a bit of respect please at times. I think we deserved it here.
“It’s a good point for us to come here and get the clean sheet. I’m delighted with the point.”
