Aberdeen star Graeme Shinnie fears his Scotland career might be over after a poor performance in the 3-0 loss to Kazakhstan.
Shinnie, who played at left-back in the game, didn’t cover himself in glory with his performance. He was partly to blame for the second Kazakhstan goal, as he didn’t track the runner. As a result, he is now concerned that his international career is over.

“I don’t think I played well. It was frustrating on a personal note” he told the Scotsman.
“I maybe got caught a bit cold at left-back in terms of my positioning, especially for their second goal,” he continued.

Shinnie then concluded that “I can’t see myself getting back into the team now”.
It does seem unlikely that he will get into the Scotland team at left-back again. Andy Robertson is set to return to the game against San Marino. Kieran Tierney is also an option when he is fit.

Shinnie has excelled in midfield for the Dons this season. Perhaps a space could be found for him in the squad in that position.
If Shinnie continues to play well for Aberdeen, he will have a chance once again to play for Scotland. It is understandable why he feels the way he does though. It was a bad night for both the player and for Scotland.
