Graham Dorrans explains his move to Sydney following Dundee exit

Graham Dorrans has explained his move from Western Sydney Wanderers after an exit from Dundee.

The former West Brom midfielder has spent the last season and a bit with the Dens Park club but now moves to Australia after receiving an offer too good to turn down.

Dorrans has had spells with Livingston and Rangers in SPFL football alongside lengthy associations with West Brom and Norwich City. Now after his Tayside spell, the experienced playmaker is going down under.

“I’m delighted to be coming over and grateful for the opportunity to play for the club,” said Dorrans.

“After speaking with the manager (Carl Robinson) and hearing the vision he has for the club and the way he wants to play I think it’s a brand of football that really suits my game.

“It’s a league I have watched from a distance and really enjoyed watching it so I’m looking forward to getting over and starting as soon as I can.”

Dundee have also had a message sent to them by the former West Brom man. Dorrans says he is grateful for the platform he was provided at Dens Park.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club, it’s been a great period for me,” the former Premier League star said. “I want to thank the manager and staff who I have really enjoyed working with.

“When I joined the club I wanted to get back to playing every week and help get the club back to the Premiership, unfortunately the league was cut short last season as I believe we could have continued our great run and had a real chance.

“There are some fantastic young players at the club and it was great to be able to pass on some of my experience to them.

“Finally, I want to thank the fans for their backing. It’s been a pleasure to play for the club and it’s genuinely been one of the toughest decisions of my career but the opportunity to move overseas is something I have to explore for myself and my family.”
