St Johnstone striker Guy Melamed has interest in him from Sunderland – but the forward is likely to return to his native Israel (Herald).
The 28-year-old confirmed last month that English League One club Sunderland were one of the teams after his signature following his sole season at St Johnstone. Melamed will snub that to take up options in Israel, the striker having advanced talks with two clubs after his Saints deal expired.
Despite starting slowly for St Johnstone as he adapted to life in a new country during Covid-19 times, Melamed played a key role for the Perth club as they landed a historic cup double in the League and Scottish Cup. It’s earned him admirers in Sunderland after leaving Maccabi Netanya last summer.
Melamed scored seven goals in 23 appearances for Callum Davidson’s side, who return to competitive next month in Europa League qualifiers.
