Hamilton are on the hunt for a new manager.

The club announced that Martin Canning had left the club ‘by mutual consent’.

Canning took over the job at New Douglas Park in 2015 from Alex Neil, and has managed to keep the team in the Scottish Premiership ever since.

However, recent results have been very poor for Accies.

The fans seem to have been losing patience with Canning, as evidenced by a spat his father had with fans in a recent defeat to St Johnstone.

The recent 3-0 loss to Celtic saw Accies remain only a point clear of Dundee in 10th place in the Scottish Premiership table.

The teams are set to meet in a huge match at New Douglas Park on Saturday.

As for the next man in charge, there are some big names available.

Alan Stubbs, out of work since losing the St Mirren job in September could be a candidate.

A move for Ayr United manager Ian McCall would certainly be intriguing.

Although you have to wonder if McCall would leave a promotion chasing side for one in a relegation battle.

Whoever takes charge will have a tough task on their hands, to keep Hamilton in the top flight, but at least the players have the experience of relegation battles.
