Derek McInnes believes Hearts’ signing of Beni Baningime from Everton is an ‘especially impressive’ piece of transfer business from the Tynecastle club.
Baningime has shone since arriving in the Scottish Premiership on a three-year deal. The midfielder made 12 appearances for Everton during his time at Goodison Park but injuries curtailed his progress in Merseyside. He has already made himself a fans’ favourite in Edinburgh.

He was one of several pieces of business completed by the Jambos during the summer. Ben Woodburn arrived from Liverpool while Australian Olympian Cammy Devlin also made his way to Gorgie. Josh Ginnelly returned to Tynecastle while Alex Cochrane joined from Brighton and Hove Albion. Taylor Moore was signed from Bristol City.
Former Aberdeen manager McInnes believes their capture from Everton is the standout (DM): “Hearts have also had a good transfer window and will be quietly patting themselves on the back. Getting Beni Baningime from Everton has been an especially impressive piece of business.
“He went straight into the team for that first league game against Celtic and has hardly put a foot wrong. Robbie Neilson has not made a raft of signings but, on the face of it, he has added players who will improve the starting XI.”
