Hearts boss Robbie Neilson gets backing from Ann Budge

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson has been backed by club owner Ann Budge as he bids to get the Tynecastle side back to the Premiership.

As it stands, Hearts are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship, although they have played two games more than second placed Raith Rovers.

Despite the double-digit lead, Hearts’ recent form hasn’t been great. Indeed, they have drawn their last three league games. Budge still backs Neilson and the job he is doing though.

“He knows what he wants to do”

“I think one of the problems in football is that some clubs react too quickly. It takes time. Robbie, he came back to us in June, so he’s been back for eight months. He’s brought in a lot of new players, he knows what he wants to do” she said (Sky Sports).

The Hearts owner does accept that there will be difficulties and not everyone will agree with her, but as far as she is concerned Neilson is the man for the job.

“He’s focused on that”

“He knows that his fundamental objective this year is to win promotion, and he’s focused on that. Will things go wrong along the way, will there be bumps in the road? Of course there will.

“But when I talked to Robbie about coming back, it was very much with a view of ‘I want you to view this as a minimum of three years’. He’s safe as far as I’m concerned. I know it’s not everybody’s view, but it’s my view” Budge concluded.

Hearts return to action this weekend against Dundee, looking for a first win in four league games.
