Hearts have been dealt a blow ahead of their trip to Glasgow on Sunday, where they will face Celtic. Manager Craig Levein has confirmed, as reported by the Daily Record, that both John Souttar and Steven Naismith will miss the fixture.
However, the report goes on to reveal that recent signing Glenn Whelan will be involved in the game at some stage.
Tough task will be more difficult
It was already going to be a tough task for Hearts heading to the home of the Scottish champions. The absence of two key men will task even more difficult.
Hearts will be hoping to take advantage of what has been some poor recent performances by Celtic. The Tynecastle side should take heart from the recent 2-1 win over Motherwell in the Betfred Cup.
Craig Levein went into the game at Fir Park under some pressure. However, he answered that in the win that set up a quarter-final against Aberdeen.
Manager won’t be criticised should team lose
Should Hearts lose to Celtic, it is unlikely that Craig Levein will face any major criticism from the Hearts support. They do not have the best record at Celtic Park in recent years.
Still, it will give a chance to the likes of Craig Halkett and Conor Washington a chance to become heroes if they manage to help Hearts secure a result at Celtic Park.
